Size:78" H. x 96" L. x 48" D.

Bronzeman was honored to create this larger than life-size bronze statue of Nurse Ruby Bradley for the Soldiers Walk Memorial Park in Arcadia, WI. This bronze memorial was commissioned by Mr. Ronald Wanek, Founder of Ashley Furniture Industries in 2025.

Nurse Ruby Bradley was an influential figure in the history of the United States military nursing corps. Born on February 19, 1907, in West Virginia, she became one of the most decorated nurses in U.S. history due to her service during World War II and the Korean War.

During World War II, Bradley served in the Army Nurse Corps and was deployed to the Philippines. She endured the Japanese occupation and was captured as a prisoner of war (POW) along with other nurses and soldiers. During her time in captivity from 1942 to 1945, she displayed exceptional courage and resilience, providing medical care to fellow POWs under dire conditions.

After the war, Bradley continued her nursing career and later served as a nurse during the Korean War, where she again demonstrated her dedication and skill. Throughout her career, she received numerous awards for her service, including the Bronze Star Medal and the Korean War Service Medal.

Bradley’s legacy is one of bravery and commitment to her patients and fellow soldiers, and she is remembered as a pioneer in military nursing. She passed away on February 8, 2002, leaving behind a remarkable legacy in the field of nursing and military service.
