Bronzeman created this custom life-size bronze sculpture of Coach Del Goodyear for Culver City High School in 2026. This bronze sculpture was created using only a handful of black-and-white photographs, including a particularly valuable yearbook photograph from the 1950s.
Del Goodyear was a longtime coach and athletic director at Culver City High School and the school’s gym was named the Del Goodyear Gymnasium in his honor. He was Culver City High School’s first basketball coach and led the team to its first CIF championship in 1954. He had a significant influence on Culver City athletics and had a longstanding friendship with John Wooden, whom he knew from UCLA.
